WHAT IS A UNITREAT?

A weekend retreat for Uniteens providing an opportunity to explore spiritually, socialize, & build new and meaningful friendships. Activities include large and small group activities, team building, crafts, free-time sports, singing, meditation, dancing, prayer, fun and fellowship.

WHERE IS THE UNITREAT HELD?

The Spring Unitreat will be held at YMCA Storer Camps (North Center) in Jackson, Michigan. Housing is in heated cabins with bunk beds and indoor facilities. Participants must bring their own bedding. A complete packing list will be provided to your group upon registration.

Please address all correspondence to the Uniteen Consulant at 423 S. Kenwood, Royal Oak, MI 48067, 248-318-7028. The YMCA Camp does not handle our registration and cannot answer your questions about the Unitreat.

WHO CAN ATTEND?

Great Lakes Uniteens and their adult leaders/chaperones.

Age Requirement: Uniteens must be at least 11 years old AND in the 6th - 8th grade on the 1st day of The Unitreat. (Sorry, no exceptions to this requirement can be made.)

Attendance Requirement: Uniteens must have attended at least 3 Sundays in the 2 months prior to registration.

Service Requiremen:: Each Uniteen attending must have a minimum of four service hours to their church or community

All participants must be able to honor heart agreements, function in a group setting and MUST attend the entire weekend from check-in on Friday thru Closing Ceremony on Sunday. Youth with special challenges requiring close, personal adult supervision should be accompanied by a parent or familiar adult who is not the primary adult responsible for the rest of the group.

ADULT LEADERSHIP

Two adults must travel and stay with each group. A minimum of two adults with a ratio of 1:12 per group is required. (i.e. 2 adults for the first 12 Uniteens, and 1 additional adult for each 12 Uniteens thereafter.) Uniteens must travel with their group.

For the safety of our youth and in compliance with the guidelines of Unity Worldwide Ministries (aka Association of Unity Churches), a Criminal Background Check must be held on file at the church for all adults attending regional and national events. (Inexpensive background checks can be obtained through www.churchmutual.com . You do not have to be insured by church mutual to set up a background screening account through their site.)

Co-ed leadership is REQUIRED for Co-ed Groups.
Drivers for each group must be at least 25 years old with a valid driver’s license and good driving record.  (It is the church’s responsibility to check the driving record of adult drivers. (A driving record can be obtained with a background check. For more information, visit www.churchmutual.com)

Seat belts must be provided for & used by ALL occupants of cars & vans

WHAT DOES IT COST?

$125.00 per person –  All registrations must be POSTMARKED BY March 20, 2012
Fee includes T-shirt, all program materials, housing & five meals. Meals begin with Friday dinner and end with Sunday breakfast..

HOW DO WE REGISTER?

All registrations must be submitted as a group and accompanied by the forms listed on the group registration form. One church check for the total amount due must accompany registration. Please make checks payable to: GLURC
